ABOUT
Ara Research is an interdisciplinary research organization established and based in Penang, Malaysia. We aim to carry out research for policy and action that will further the ideals of a progressive, inclusive, and resilient society.

Our work is guided by the principles of sustainable development, good governance, and social justice. We believe that sustainable development comes together with environmental stewardship, good governance works through strong public institutions, and social justice has to be based on the equitable sharing of resources.
We recognize the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement - government, non-governmental entities, and civil society organizations. In particular, we see public and community participation as the lynchpin for success in many projects. As such, education and outreach are also within our scope of activities.
